A Week of Music

May! I'm so excited for the weather, my birthday, and (hopefully) our backyard coming together this month. Nervous about the kids being out of school before we know it. We do have Alice enrolled in a little summer preschool this year though, which won't last all summer but will be life-saving since naps will likely be a rarity.

This week was fun with a football game, the kids' music recital (so fun to have them both perform!), a choral concert my dad performed in, and lots in-between. We had the most Saturday-ish Saturday I've experienced since before Alice was born probably. Jared and the kids left to run errands in the monring, and we got the house cleaned and I fiddled with some plants for the porch. The kids played really well together when they were home, and Alice took a nap so she could do a movie night with her cousin later. Jared and I got to actually watch Jack's football game since Alice wasn't there, and then I left to my dad's concert with my mom and brother, and we all had ice cream at the creamery afterward. I also bought some herbs at a plant nursery. 10/10 Saturday.

Some Alice quotes this week:

"Woof! It's a hot day today."

"I go'd diarrhita and now the toilet is black. Want to see? That's the BAD stuff in there."

Reading Cinderella to me: "This mom is a bad guy. She's yelling. She's yelling, 'Don't take my popcorn!' But Cinderella needed some. That mom is a very bad guy."

And now for some pictures:

^^I spent too many hours making this mood board for our front porch. I was brainstorming things I'd like for my birthday and it was all coming up porch stuff. But I wanted to make sure I had the whole vision for how the front porch will eventually come together before I started asking for specific items. I use "Pages" on my laptop to make these mood boards, but I'm sure there are apps that would make them even easier. Or AI, probs.
^^Alice reading Cinderella and telling me about the "bad guy."
^^We went to Jurassic Jungle for the first time in months! This is the photo booth, and Jack has blue ice cream on his face. After we all contracted 3 separate stomach bugs last winter, I tried to keep our distance from Thanksgiving Point this winter. But I think we're safe now. Mostly. I did actually end up with a minor cold two days after we went here, soooo maybe not. Worth it though--the kids played together for an hour while I sat on a bench and ordered groceries.
^^Alice dressed herself, then requested I take this picture of her holding some of her favorite things.
^^Beautiful moon on my evening hike.
^^The kids' music concert. Alice sang some songs with her tots music group, and Jack played Frere Jaques, memorized. I know it's a basic song, but I'm proud of him! He was nervous but played it flawlessly. He started lessons in January and I'm impressed how far he's come with reading music.
^^The first Saturday of the month, Home Depot has a free kids building morning. Whenever we remember, Jared takes the kids while I get some time to putter around cleaning the house.
^^Yesterday I was sitting in our tree room planning my week when Alice came storming in with a music book and a pen and told me it was time for her piano lesson. She doesn't sound half bad when she plays, actually. This girl is a good time.
