Another beautiful (smoky, post-apocolyptic-looking) summer week! There have been lots of wildfires in Utah and the smoke and ash falling from the sky is something else. Truly I don't want to talk about it. We're staying inside as much as possible but trying to make the most of it. Here are some pictures from our week:
^^Jared's parents came to town last weekend and we had Father's Day dinner at their home.
^^Photo booth at the Dinosaur Museum. I've developed a wonderful ritual of taking the kids to an indoor play place once a week when I need to do the meal planning and grocery shopping. I bribe them to play really well for 45 minutes while I sit on a bench and tackle this recurring task. Then we go get a scoop of ice cream afterward. Before this ritual I would find myself squeezing in the meal planning and grocery ordering after everyone was in bed and feeling salty about it. This is a much better system.
^^Jack went for a long bike ride with his cousin and Grandpa Haines this week. We met them at the finish line and discovered that Jack's tire tubing wasn't even on the tire fully, which probably explains the slower pace. He had a great time regardless.
^^After the bike ride we played by a pond for an hour before heading home and watching a lightning storm roll in from our front porch. This was a great summer vibe.
^^On Saturday we went to a "Spring Fling" at Jared's aunt's house with some of Jared's cousins. Every year his aunt hosts an outdoor dinner and everyone brings a pair of new summer shoes for their kids. Then we put candy in the shoes and hide them for the kids to find. It was great to see Jared's extended family again, and the kids had a blast.
