Aliceisms + Jackisms

April 22, 2025

Alice has been saying so many funny things lately. When Jack was her age I would meticulously write down and record all the funny things he said. With Alice there are so many other things going on that I haven't made the time to do that yet. Until today! So without further ado, here are some of the funny things Alice says on the regular:

1. When Alice wants something and we say no, she gives us the biggest puppy dog eyes and says, "Just one time?" Often followed by, "Tiny bit?" with her fingers held close to each other.

2. "Setty, et, go!"

3. "Luffy, cute!" Meaning she thinks her Lovey is cute, and then she gives it a kiss.

4. When she's nervous or sometimes even distraught: "Haha, hehe, hoho!" With her eyes squinting shut.

5. "Me no sad, me 'appy!" (Whenever we tell her it's time for bed or anyone mentions they are tired.)

6. "Mama Baby." (When she wants me to pretend to be a baby.)

7. Not anything strange, but she is exceedingly polite. Lots of, "Zzzz?" (please) and "Tay-too" (thank you) and "Gelcome" (You're welcome).

8. "Oopsie daisy!"

9. "Oh! Okayyyy!" With the funniest, most excited high-pitched voice inflection whenever someone says something she's happy/excited about.

10. "Kah-kah, hmph." With a grumpy face and a foot stomp, to let me know that Jack is in a grumpy mood (haha)

11. "Me supa hungwy!" When she's, surprise, super hungry.

Speaking of Jack, here are two bonus Jack-isms. I keep a note on my phone of funny quotes from Jack. The last ones I wrote down were from early 2024:

1. While playing a board game called Word on the Street, as he was just learning to read: "This card says, 'A place to invest monkey.' I know! The zoo!"

2. "Mom, I know who you used to drive far to kiss. Dad. That's literally all. Or wait I forgot, you have brothers!"😅

And now for some pictures from our week:

^^Distraught at the butterfly museum because she couldn't get a butterfly to land on her.
^^No worries, her cousin Aspen helped her hold a butterfly in the end. Having so many cousins around is everything. You can see the bandaid from Alice's blood draw in this picture. In a week or two we'll go to her allergist to do an in-office peanut test. If all goes well we'll be cleared to have her eat peanut butter at home, just in time for summer day trips and pb&js!
^^We learned that visits to the Tulip Festival are included in our Thanksgiving Point passes. I had no idea how expansive and stunning the Ashton gardens are. And they are less than ten minutes from our house. We continue to feel so grateful we ended up where we did in Utah.
^^One last visit to Julie's house before they moved to Idaho. Jack continues to be so sad that his buddy Davis has moved. Me too. We will have to start writing letters.
^^Sunset walks in our foothills are my favorite thing about living in this neighborhood. I truly don't even mind the wind--Wyoming taught me that if I bundle up it isn't a big deal, and it scares most people off so I can have the trails to myself.
^^Easter egg hunt at Nana's!
^^Jack took a break from drawing for a tough week or two, but he is back at it now. Love this boy so much. He was having a lot of anxiety in the first half of April; so much that it was really taking a toll on his and the rest of the family's everyday lives. After a trip to his pediatrician, we got him started on the lowest dose of Zoloft and it has helped SO incredibly much. I teared up when a few days in Jack said, "Mom, does that medicine help me feel less anxious all the time?" I told him yes and asked if he was feeling better lately, and he smiled and said yes. I'm so happy for him and just sad we didn't look into this sooner. It has been months and months of turbulent/scared bedtimes and morning meltdowns/the occasional panic attack or anxiety tummyache before school. He is doing so much better now. Grateful he is happier and feeling more like himself now.
