On Jared's Mind

Jared with our sweet niece, Mae. She is currently the desktop picture on his laptop and the topic of many conversations about "cute things." Jared might love blood and guts and Bigfoot and guns, but he positively melts around baby girls.
The first thing Jared said to me when he woke up this morning was, "I was thinking about our future babies." No introduction, no good morning--he just dove right into it.

"Oh really?" I asked, "What were you thinking about them?"

"Oh, just how I'm always going to play video games with them and stuff."

Other statements that Jared has recently made about our "future babies" include the following:

-----

Jared: "I'm going to teach our babies philosophy and we'll have rooms for different trades so they can all learn a trade. There will be a wood-working room, a video-game room [because video-gaming is a trade now?], a metallurgy room . . . "
Me: "What about the girls' trade rooms Jared? Do they get any special rooms?"
Jared:"Ya, those are the girls' rooms." Silly me.

-----

Building on that last one . . .
Jared: "We're only going to have girl babies, ok? Lots and lots of little girls. But we should also I guess have one boy baby so we can pass down the family name."

-----

Laura: "What's your favorite color today, Jare?"
Jared: "Babies."

-----

And finally,
Jared: "I'm excited for when we'll be able to move back to America. We'll be so strong. And you'll be so pregnant." Wait . . . what??

(Don't necessarily count on that last one, guys. He's a big talker.)

  2. Haha that's so funny :) But I'm betting on that last one . . . I mean, you're always talking about how much free time you have, so maybe you're just itching to introduce some chaos in the form of a video-game-playing-wood-working-metalkjd;afjsd little girl ;) [and clearly I've never heard of that metal word before, which is why I replaced it with gibberish, because that's what it is ;)]

    1. Ha! I think under normal circumstances I would be right on board with the baby-making trend that sweeping the blog world right now. Unfortunately though, hospital conditions are a bit primitive here. Epidurals are unavailable, and there's no NICU, so if something goes wrong mama and baby have to be flown to Florida. If I weren't such a chicken I'd probably chance it, because clearly the Lamberts are feeling a bit baby hungry ;)

    1. Seriously man. I tell him every day! He doesn't believe in the family curse, but it's three generations strong and I don't think we'll be able to break it. Plus, girls are soooo dramatic!

  5. Oh my gosh, Jared is funny! Also, I feel like your house is gonna need a lot of rooms, because there definitely needs to be one for floral design, cupcake baking, and useful things like lego architecture. Also there's going to be a pomski room, right? Or maybe a pomski basement where there are just tons of little pomskis to snuggle with!

    1. Haha! Floral design room = mandatory. Also, I think I could definitely get Jared on board with lego architecture and cupcake baking, as long as he could be the taste tester. I'm liking the pomski basement idea too. But maybe we could make it a pomski attack instead? Or better idea--pomski theater room! That way whenever we watch a movie, everyone can have a snuggle buddy.

  6. Ya....You're totally going to end up having a baby while you're there. I'm sorry, but when boys bring up babies, it's only a matter of time!! Hahahaha. "We're only going to have girl babies...." made my freaking life!!!

    1. Whatever! Just because everyone thinks we're going to, I'm taking it as a personal challenge not to have one until we get home. I'll show you. I'll show everyone!

    1. He meant strong in our relationship and strong in many other ways . . . but definitely not physically strong, haha! This is horrible, but with all my new found free-time and our never-ending warm weather. neither of us has been exercising at all here! This is especially strange considering we used to be like marathoners and stuff. Times and seasons, I suppose. I keep telling myself that when the dry season arrives in January, we'll pick back up on exercising. We'll see! And ohhhh ya, that guy's baby hungry. Once we're done with our Grenada time, I'm sure it won't be too long before we're creating a nursery and changing diapers!
